An encouraging homeschool community

Welcome to the
Home & Haven Homeschool Community!

Home & Haven Founder/ Ashley Howry

Back in 2019 I felt a stirring in my heart to create a Christ centered homeschooling community. It was one of those moments where I found myself asking “are you sure Lord? Me?”. Home & Haven began and the Lord has grown it to be a thriving homeschooling community. We are grateful for the women that He has brought together and are excited to see how He continues to grow it.

I’m a mama of 8 little ones (only 7 pictured here) and married to my college sweetheart. We live on a little hobby farm in Texas and are in our 10th year of homeschooling. I am a homeschool alumni and was homeschooled from Kindergarten through High-school. My mom was and continues to be an amazing homeschooling mentor to me.

“NOW YOU ARE DEEP IN WHAT SEEMS TO ME A PECULIARLY SELFLESS SERVICE. THE SPIRITUAL TRAINING OF CHILDREN MUST BE THAT. YOU WORK FOR THE YEARS YOU WILL NOT SEE. YOU WORK FOR THE INVISIBLE ALL THE TIME, BUT YOU WORK FOR THE ETERNAL. SO IT IS ALL WORTHWHILE.” -AMY CARMICHAEL

Our prayer is that you would leave this space feeling inspired and equipped to teach your children and love your family well.

Many blessings- Ashley

Kara Gormong/
Executive Assistant

About Kara:
I am a homeschooling mama of 4 (ages from 12 to 6) with one on the way in September! We have been homeschooling from the very beginning, taking each school year one year at a time! I graduated college with an elementary eduction degree, but have been teaching at home for the last 7 years.

I enjoy quiet mornings with a hot cup of coffee, running to keep sane, and working on all things creative both at home and in the small business world. We are a ministry family with a heart to reach others for Jesus, starting with our own children.

About Melissa:
Melissa and her family live on a ranch in Northeast Texas. They raise grass-fed beef cattle for a living as well as their three children, Molly, Hank and Luke. They are going into their fifth year of homeschooling, mostly following Charlotte Mason’s approach, and love their church family, adventurous family read-alouds, and baking together. Originally hailing from New Zealand, Melissa truly enjoys making her country house a home and pouring into her family.

Contributing Writer

About Brooke:
Hi there! I'm Brooke. Momma to four with one on the way. My husband and I raise our crew on a small mountain in Maryland where we homeschool and hobby farm. I love bringing my children alongside in the daily tasks of life and you will often find us together in the kitchen or outside with the animals. We have been homeschooling for four years and it has been such an unforeseen blessing to our family! When I'm not doing farm chores or lessons with the kiddos, you may find me sewing, reading a good book, or DIYing another natural remedy or house project. And let's not forget the mug of cold coffee you will surely find me sipping throughout the bulk of my morning. Life is full and I am so thankful to get to journey it so closely with my children because of the gift of homeschooling.
